Chopard ‘Happy Diamonds’ 18k White Gold Diamond Ring
The Chopard brand is one of the last family-owned Haute Horlgoetrie and jewellery making houses. The Swiss brand is known for their precision and exquisite watches. Chopard is also the official jewellery supplier to the Cannes film festival.
The story of Chopard begins in a small village in Switzerland when a 24 year old Louis-Ulysse Chopard, a watchmaker, opens his own watch manufactory under the name L.U.C. The L.U.C. watches were novel at the time as they were very thin and of great precision. As such, the L.U.C watches won illustrious clients such as Russian Tzar Nicolas II. The Chopard brand stayed in the Chopard family until 1963 when it was sold to Karl Scheufele III, a businessman from a German master watchmaker family. Under the Scheufele family Chopard developed its most beautiful and finest watches and jewellery pieces and reached true cult and global status.
This “Chopard ‘Happy Diamonds’ ‘Love’ 18 k White Gold Ring is part of the Chopard ‘Happy Diamonds’ collection. Chopard’s ‘Happy Diamonds’line was first introduced in 1976 by Chopard designer, Ronald Kurowski. It presented for the first time a men’s watch case that secured movable ‘free-floating’ or ‘dancing’ diamonds between two pieces of sapphire glass. This design enabled the diamonds to move together with the movements of the wearer’s wrists. The idea was transposed to the first piece of Chopard jewellery in 1983, with the launch of the Chopard ‘Happy Clown’ a 18k yellow gold clown pendant set with glass tummy that secured free floating ‘dancing’ diamonds and gems. The setting is one of the most innovative and popular in modern jewellery history and is a trademark of the Chopard house.
